Comprehensive Annual Exam
Over 11 million Americans over age 12 need vision correction, and many don’t realize they need visual aids until their decreased vision takes a toll on either school, work, or both. It is important to take care of your eyesight, and annual eye exams are a way to do that. At routine exams, we ensure you are meeting your visual needs as well as check the health of your eyes. Eye diseases are common and can go unnoticed for a long time—some have no symptoms at first. For most cases, it is necessary to find eye diseases in the early stages when treatment to prevent vision loss is most effective. Only your eye doctor knows for sure.
​Start early! Though people tend to have more vision problems as they get older, children need eye exams to ensure healthy vision and high school performance. The American Association of Optometry recommends vision screening for all children at least once between age 3 and 5 years to detect amblyopia or risk factors for the disease. Amblyopia is decreased vision in one or both eyes due to abnormal vision development in infancy or childhood. Early detection and intervention are necessary to help avoid vision loss.

promptly. Early treatment is critically important to prevent some
common eye diseases from causing permanent vision loss or blindness, such as cataracts, diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma, and age-related macular degeneration. According to the CDC, the US has an estimated 93 million adults at high risk for vision loss, and only half visited an eye doctor in the past 12 months. Don’t let that be you! Regular eye care can have a life-changing impact on preserving the vision of millions of people. 
Below are some symptoms which warrant urgent evaluation. If you have any of the following eye problems, don’t wait for your next appointment — come in as soon as possible:
  • Sudden decreased vision
  • Redness
  • Eye pain
  • Double vision
  • New/increased floaters
  • Flashes of light
  • Halos/starburst around lights
